Wedding photography is all about capturing memories, of documenting the most special day of your life to last forever.
It is important that when you choose a photographer for your wedding to select one who is qualified and who will be able to be professional about it. The most common wedding photography does not capture the moment but forces the couple into poses, thereby losing the atmosphere and
essence of the special day.
The couple after all is who the day belongs to and each moment is precious to them, capturing that moment in its natural form is much more satisfying and rewarding for me.
Photography has always been my passion and I received my initial diploma in photography with The National Photographic Arts Society of Sri Lanka. During the three years I studied there I received a several merit awards during competitions and a second place award for my amateur work as well.
In 1986 I joined a leading Color Laboratory in the country and got experience working with color manual printers and the finer points of printing. A year later I joined the Sunday Times newspaper as a staff photo journalist and continued until 1991 when I won the prestigious
Villie Vicoy Reuter Fellowship for photo journalist which afforded me a chance to further study photo journalism at the University of Missouri, Columbia in the United States.
I remain the only Sri Lankan to have won this scholarship which gave me an opportunity to learn the value and meaning of documentary photography.
After my return to Sri Lanka I continued to work for the
Sunday times concentrating on News and fashion
photography until 1999 when I joined Esteem Sri Lanka magazine as a fashion photographer. |
